Following the publication of the first work, many collectors indicated that certain parts in their possession were absent from book.
A list of the purposes which were to appear in a republication was drawn up. All the chapters of the first volume were nouveau riches (uniform, transmissions medical, etc) and of new topics approached, like the personal purposes, the drive in the United States, the daily life of the American prisoners of war interned in the German camps. More than 1.000 items photographed colors and accompanied by a descriptive note were indexed. This second volume thus forms with the first delivers a sum of documentation unequalled and essential to all those, collectors or historians, who are interested in the American of the Second world war.
