The other day, I was at Starbucks talking to a recent graduate from Cal Tec engineering school, and somehow we got on the topic of electric cars, and the future flying cars. He indicated to me that he had gotten several speeding tickets in his new sports car, a little precision German sports car - yes it was a bright color and that he wished he had a flying car so he wouldn't have to deal with traffic. He said he wished that next time he went by one of those speed traps, he could just pull over, wait for the officer to come up to his car, and then fly away; "hasta la vista, MF!" or something of that nature. We definitely had a laugh over our frappachinos on that one. And I guess with that attitude...
3 Steps Toward Definiteness of Purpose
Have you ever asked yourself, "why am I not where I want to be in life?" Chances are that you probably have. But have you ever asked, "what is it that I REALLY want?" The results of this question probably vary greatly from the first. And what many people fail to realize is, this is the more important question! It is not enough to simply say, "I want to have lots of money!" You must have DEFINITENESS OF PURPOSE! Let's take a closer look at this, and what it is which you need to acquire this. Know What Is Out There If it is your intention to achieve success chasing your dreams, then you must know what your options are. Take the following example: Two recent high school graduates are seeking to join...
ADD/ADHD and Careers Options For It
Many career options are exclusively designed for ADHD needs. They fulfill specific requirements and provide ample opportunities to explore stimulation, multitasking and opportunity to work independently. You should bear it in mind that not all jobs fulfill these three criteria. In such scenario, you must prioritize your choice and prefer one which suits you best. Before deciding on a particular option, you must introspect and find out your preferred category and see whether you would be able to perform it or not. This approach helps you make best career option for yourself. Technical - The primary prerequisite of a technical job is socialization with the masses for which you perform your duties. You...
Why Should We Celebrate Our Veterans?
Veterans are the brave men and women who left their comfortable lives to join the forces that fight off wars in faraway and foreign lands. They are the ones who risk losing their lives, their sanity, their identities and their free spirits in order to fight their beloved countries in wars that threaten its safety, security and freedom. These are only some of the reasons behind the question of Why Should We Honor Veterans? When we think about it, it's only the true sense of patriotism that people go to wars and leave a stable life behind. They don't get paid a lot to join the military or navy; and even if they did; the thought of leaving families and friends behind to fight in unknown waters is still...
Exclusive Interview - Liliana Gomez, 4th Survivor Voted Off
What's thrilling and intriguing about reality shows is that you're never really sure of what's going to happen next. Just like in the last episode of Survivor: Fiji, another member of the Moto tribe was unexpectedly voted off. In an exclusive interview, Liliana Gomez expresses her sentiments on being the fourth Survivor to be eliminated. Liliana Gomez, a 25-year old from Oxnard, California, is currently a loan officer. Born on April 5, 1981, Gomez went to Guadalajara, Jalisco, where she discovered her passion for music and singing. After graduating high school in the United States, she joined the United States Marine Corps where she served for eight years and became part of Operation Iraqi Freedom...
The Empowerment Vessel - Black Male Crisis - Self Image
The issue of the "Crisis of The Black Male" is truly one that is tearing at my heart, and provoking my aggression to cause a change, "by any means necessary." I recently read an article that quite frankly expressed that we have lost a generation of black boys. It further expressed that the adverse effects of factors such as negative media, gangs, drugs, poor education, unemployment, father absence, crime, violence and death have snatched the unlimited potential that our young black males have inside them. Strikingly, statistics show that young black men are graduating from high school at all time lows, which testifies that the dropout is high. Which further connects to the low percentage of black...
Remembering the Battle of Iwo Jima
oe Rosenthal snapped the iconic photograph, Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima, he knew it was a special sight, but probably never imagined the lengths the snapshot would travel in history. It was his capturing of the Battle of Iwo Jima, during the Second World War that became one of the most well known depictions of the war. From this image, a host of stories, life histories, movies, and books have emerged, namely the most recent Clint Eastwood film by the name of "Flags of Our Fathers." It was a Friday, February 23rd, 1945, approaching 1:00pm. The Marines had only landed at Iwo Jima four days earlier and Rosenthal, a photographer with the Associated Press, was visiting the island on one of his daily...

How to Prepare For Marine Bootcamp - Weight Requirements

Potential Laser Weapon Innovations Considered
Well, the US military has now perfected the laser weapon, and now we have aerial laser weapons which can hit missile targets, incoming aircraft, and basically rule the battlespace from above. And I suppose a high altitude aircraft with a high energy laser system could also shoot down a satellite in low Earth orbit. Now, the United States Navy also has a laser weapon which can shoot down UAVs, and soon it'll be able to shoot down incoming anti-ship missiles, or China's new silly, weak, and poorly designed ICBM anti-ship missile. Still, there are other potential innovations which need to be discussed and explored, and I'd like to list them below; 1. We Need More Research on How to Make a Carbon...
Join the US army and become a US citizen in 6 months
For decades, high-skilled professionals from across the world, particularly India, have fought their way to US citizenship through legal immigration channels — a process that can take up to a decade or more. Now, Uncle Sam is making it easy. Fight your way — literally — to American citizenship and take the Oath of Allegiance in as little as six months. In a far reaching proposal, the US military will open its doors to skilled immigrant guest workers (such as those who hold H-1B visas) who have lived in the US for a minimum of two years. The move is aimed at offsetting the poor recruitment intake from traditional sources at a time the US military is stretched thin by deployments in Iraq and the...
Going through the history of International relations in the post- cold war era, you can observe several political crises originating from the military and clandestine operations of the United States. This overflow of international crises dealing with America's operations are better defined as" US interventions". This concept of intervention is a well- known term in the political history of the world, especially during the 90s in the United States, George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton's presidency. Not a single country has ever meddled with international affairs irrelevant to its country than the United States, However, in some periods Soviet Union was playing US exceptional current role in the world...
If They Can Do It, I Can Do It
Almost every goal you want to achieve: losing weight, earning more money, or eliminating debt, has been accomplished by many other people. In fact, the exact amount of weight you need to lose and the precise amount of income you want to earn has already been accomplished many times before. Are those people any better than you? No! They merely understood that if someone else did it, so could they. I remember my first night in boot camp like it was yesterday. I was afraid. It was late and I was lying motionless on the top rack of my bunk, but I was unable to sleep. I kept thinking, "What have I done?" Three weeks earlier, I had turned eighteen. I was hanging out with my friends back home and I had no...

It's easy to find information about Marine Corps Boot Camp. It's also easy to find information on the Marine Corps lifestyle. Something we don't often run into is information or guidance on the process, the procedures, and the advantages of joining itself. The first thing anyone needs when walking into the Marine Corps Recruiter's office is confidence. One will learn quickly that without confidence you will lose out on a lot of opportunities. The recruiter's entire purpose is to get you to join for at the lowest cost to him and the Government. The recruiter won't tell you about the financial bonuses you are qualified for, so it's up to you as an individual to know when to take advantage of your...
What You Need To Do To Become A Navy Officer
Following is an interview with a recruit in the Navy: "The reserve recruiter told me that now more than ever, the navy reserve is like a weekend warrior for the working man. He said I would drill for 6 months locally on weekends, go to a 2 week boot camp, and then come back for more drilling and training on the weekends. He said the deployment possibility is low." "He said this would be my way of helping out how I can, while maintaining my normal family life and career. Is this for real or just blowing smoke at me? Also, I have a degree and was looking into reserve officer, but he said to join enlisted reserve first and work my way into it once I am in." "I can't give you first hand experience but I...

Starcraft 2 Terran Marine Rush Tactic - The Quickest Way To Terran Victory
Now that Starcraft 2 has been out a while and non-beta players have managed to develop some tactics, or just steal them from long time players, I'm going to share the easiest tactic for Terrans. The Marine Rush Tactic. Marines are the first purely military unit you will create and the easiest. All you need in order to recruit a marine is a barracks. You'll of course need 50 minerals and space in your army. Both of these will be covered by mining only minerals and creating lots of supply depots. Now, you might think that marines are the weakest unit so they are not worth making, but with this tactic the secret is in the speed. Marines are quick and simple to make and you can make dozens in no...
When Do You Know a Warhammer Army Isn't For You?
"body"> Unless you are new to Warhammer 40k, chances are this has happened to you. When it happens, it can take any number of forms, be it the army no longer grabbing your eye, or that the inspiration that motivated you to begin the army is no longer there. Other forms include playing and finding out an army is not suited to your play style, for example a Chaos Marine player being too fond of death or glory style assaults might find themselves moving onto an army more expendable troops. It might simply turn out that you find your army no longer unique, with everyone else collecting it, or worse yet, all of the above. Certainly this is what happened with my Space Marines, and it is the cost incurred...

America Goes to War - The battle for An Nasiriyah
It is hard to believe that it has been three years since Jessica Lynch and the 507th Maintenance Company rolled through the dusty streets of An Nasiriyah on March 23, 2003. Eleven of Jessica's fellow soldiers were killed that morning, five were captured and a dozen more injured. Lynch was critically injured and near death when she was brought into a military hospital near the site of her ambush. Within hours of the ambush, the North Carolina Marines of Task Force Tarawa moved to secure the bridges in An Nasiriyah. LtCol Rickey Grabowski's 1st Battalion, of the 2nd Marine Regiment rolled into the city and encountered stiff resistance. By midmorning they had rescued nearly half of the soldiers who had...
Marine Boot Camps
Marine boot camps are training camps for would-be marines. They are conducted at Parris Island, South Carolina and in San Diego, California. Courses are designed for training recruits in physical fitness, discipline, management skills, technical knowledge and general aptitude for marine life. The basic training program is a 13-week course, which is followed by an infantry training. This infantry training is conducted at Camp Geiger, North Carolina for Parris Island trainees and Camp Pendleton, California for San Diego trainees. Training at a marine boot camp is not just physical, it is mental as well. Recruits are taught the basic moral values of marine life-Honor, Courage, Commitment. Recruits are...
On What Was Known As Michael Jackson Fashion
Michael Jackson was a pop icon. He reached the zenith of pop culture wearing one glove on his hand and without him noticing, he was able to influence an entire generation, not only in the United States, but the rest of the world as well. He gave out simple pieces like military badges and fedora imprints that, for some time, oozed more power than his music. His classic "Thriller" look-red leather, zippers a Jheri curls-transformed into a more majestic look that equaled his King of Pop reputation. When President Reagan invited him to the White House in 194 to receive an award, he arrived wearing a blue sequined cropped jacked with gold sequined epaulet, his signature glove, black loafers with spats...
Life in the Marine Corps: An Infantryman's Perspective
Life in the Marine Corps is in many ways like a civilian job once you have completed all of your training and schooling. In a typical civilian job, most people work from about 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They show up for work in the morning grab a cup of coffee and often start their day with some sort of regular routine before focusing on more specific tasks that need to be completed. Around noon a one hour lunch is taken and in the afternoon specific task's are focused upon. Life in the Marines is much the same way! I was an infantryman in the Marine Corps for four years from 1993 1997. The first 6 months of my four years as an active duty Marine were much different than a civilian job. The first six months...
What is Parris Island Like
What exactly is Parris like for a new recruit? You probably are worried that it is going to be like visiting hell for 13 weeks and that you will fail to succeed in becoming a full-fledged Marine. It will be tough, but just imagine how proud you will be of yourself once you are in the Marines. I will paint you a mental picture of what you can expect to encounter at Parris Island. The entry into Parris Island is not terribly exciting, especially if you were expecting lots of fanfare. Just inside the main gate, you will notice on the side of the paved entry into the island, a large brown sign that will welcome you to Parris Island. The grounds are very clean, not a piece of trash will be seen on the...
Exercise Boot Camps
Better to hunt in fields for health unbought than fee the doctor for a nauseous draught. The wise for cure on exercise depend. - John Dryden The world is fast turning in to a place obsessed with looking good and losing weight. Health it usually the top priority, but at times even that is sacrificed for losing weight. New gimmicks appear everyday, that prescribe pills and strange diet plans for individuals to become skinny within weeks. As for Atkins or South Beach, nothing has been able to replace exercise and hard work as the best way get back in shape. As far as fitness is concerned, exercise boot camps are not a new concept. It has always been common for people to travel to a camp to train for...
Why Army Fitness Training is Better Than the Gym
Army Fitness Training is becoming a popular way to keep fit. The Military have been teaching fitness for over a hundred years. It is an essential part of a soldier's job to be fit. His or her life may depend on it, as does their colleagues. So if anyone knows about the best health and fitness techniques, it has to be the military. With a history of taking raw recruits, and turning them from couch potatoes to young men and women at the peak of their physical fitness, the military have developed fitness routines and workouts based on key simple techniques, relying on basic exercises executed well. This is perhaps why that one of the growing fitness methods is the "boot camp" and military fitness...
5 Most Important Characteristics of an Entrepreneur
Being an entrepreneur is tough business. In almost every industry, becoming an entrepreneur means that you take on a ton of risk without being able to have a clear path of where you are going. In the internet startup and internet marketing space, it is not nearly as romantic as it sounds. You often hear about garage entrepreneurs who start businesses in their house, eat nothing but ramen for 6 months, and become full fledged successes. What people don't know is that a lot of those over night successes were 5-10 years in the making. It take a special individual to succeed as an entrepreneur: 1. Tenacity. You have to be able to feel and the fear and do it anyways. Whether it is making that cross...
3 Reasons Why Jogging Doesn't Work
Jogging (any other kind of long, slow, distance training) is not an optimal training method. It may be downright bad for you. There I said it. Here is why. 1. It doesn't help you look good (this is a big one isn't it?) Time for more honesty... the main reason people want to start an exercise program is to look good. Nothing wrong with that. Sure most people don't want to look like a professional bodybuilder and most simply want to look toned. I would guess that an ideal "toned" physique for most people would be something like the bodies of those models on a health magazine like "Men's Health" or "Shape." Now for the reality check... how many people who jog (see the treadmills in gyms, or the jogger...
Is Army Basic Training Different For Men and Women?
Army Basic Training is challenging for men and women alike. It is both mentally and physically demanding. Candidates are trained in military drill, history, etiquette, weaponry, policy and uniform presentation. Male and female candidates participate in this rigorous academic and practice program together. Regardless of gender, everyone is treated to the same intensive intellectual restructuring that turns candidates into precise military professionals. Candidates must also meet minimum Army Physical Fitness Test (PFT) scores to graduate. While both men and women work on classroom learning and drill practice in the same ways, there are differences in scoring the PFT for men and women, based on the...
Maintaining a Balanced Life and the 80% Solution
I've been out on my Slackline doing my impression of a circus performer. Don't laugh, at least a couple of steps, honest! Google 'Slacklining' and you will find some 'real' experts. I got it a couple of Christmas's back and have been practising ever since; well, when the weather has been good, that is. The concept of 'balance' within life is an interesting one. How we each maintain a happy equilibrium (needed another word for balance) with all the various demands on our limited time. We only have 24 hours per day to play with, and I for one, sometimes wish for a few more! I work from home and am lucky to have a garden 'shed' for my office, a place to get away from the rest of the world and get on...
Are You Efficient Or Effective?
The more efficient I try to be the less effective I often am. According to the legendary Peter Drucker - as the story goes, efficiency is doing things right and effectiveness is doing the right things. That would mean then that maximum effectiveness, what I always strive for - sometimes more successfully than others, would be doing the right things right every time. What is working better for me than ever before is to make a list of things that I have to do, and then ask myself, "If I were called up by the Army Reserves (been there, done that) and were put on active duty for a month" and I could only finish one thing on my list - what one thing would that be? What is really the most important thing...
MLM On Internet Steroids
About 40 years ago when I had been in the Army Reserves, I was stationed in Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indiana to receive some advanced training. I was one of the first to learn about the advent of computers and the future that lay in my hands at that time. Little did I know that one day there would be this powerful and awesome technology called the Internet and how it would be impacting my life and business. For the past 20 years my wife Ann and I have been home business entrepreneurs and have helped thousands of people around the world to achieve great success in the MLM industry. Over the last several years as the Internet has developed and accessibility for everyone has gotten easier, so has the...
Great Leadership Depends on Great Decisions - Take AIME
All great leaders are defined by the quality of their decisions. Although leaders can delegate, postpone, or otherwise defer decisions, ultimately there are some things that only the leader can decide. As President Harry Truman famously said, "the buck stops here." He realized that ultimately, he needed to take responsibility and make decisions on the critical issues facing the nation. Likewise, leaders of any organization must also make key decisions and take the responsibility for their outcomes. This philosophy may sound simple, but it doesn't mean that it is easy. Often leaders must make decisions with scant information. More often than not, there are no clear cut choices among several viable...
Why Most People Are Stuck Being Skinny Or Overweight
There is something subconscious or almost occult the way that some people cannot get fitter and healthy. I know as a teen I could not seem to gain a pound of muscle or stop the taunts of bullies. There seemed to be something that wanted to keep me status quo. Fortunately, I figured out some methods to drag me up out of the 116 pound weakling status. The first thing that really changed my life was changing my environment. In my case, I joined the army reserves and then the regular army. This got me away from my home town and high school. It got me away from people constantly talking about how skinny I was. I was also more isolated from media, the high school and neighbourhood. With time on my hands...
Train Up A Child In The Way He Should Go…
Just when you think you have everything figured out, the Bible and its words are there, teaching, healing, convicting and blessing. I thought I was too old for a religious epiphany but that couldn't have been farther from the truth. In the book of Proverbs, chapter 22, verse 6, we are told to "train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it." I never realized until recently how true this statement really is. In the first half of my life, I was trained by man. A man who was viscous, a brutal dictator who spent every waking minute of his life thinking up new ways to make mine a living nightmare. My stepfather was that and so much more. It's hard sometimes to...

ARNG Company Commander Pre-Command Course - What You Will Learn
I'd like to open this article by telling you that your success as company commander (CO) is up to you. Sure, having a great First Sergeant is important too, but there are several things you can do prior to command that will make you a better CO. Prior to taking the guidon, you should have your Unit Readiness NCO enroll you in the Pre-Command Course (PCC). In the Army National Guard, the PCC is a 40 hour block of instruction, usually conducted during two drill weekends. In most states, the PCC is a requirement before you can become a CO. Even if it isn't a requirement in your state, you should still complete the training prior to command, because the information is very informative and helpful. In my...
If you are a company commander or key leader in the Army National Guard, you must familiarize yourself with PBUSE. PBUSE stands for Property Book Unit Supply Enhanced. This system is web-based and is utilized to manage your unit's property. As the company commander, you are ultimately responsible for your unit's equipment. You have command responsibility for the property. Your Supply Sergeant manages your property and utilizes PBUSE to do their job. Typically, the PBUSE is located in the Supply Room. The PBUSE program is very dynamic and is used for a variety of things to include: - Recording transactions such as new receipts or turn-ins - Managing Army hand receipts - Tracking Army property Several...
Command Supply Discipline Program (CSDP) - Tips For Commanders
The Command Supply Discipline Program is a helpful program for Company Commanders in the Army National Guard. Also known as CSDP, the Command Supply Discipline helps company commanders maintain property accountability and comply with Army Supply Regulations. It also enforces fiscal responsibility and Army policies. In most units, the Company Executive Officer runs the unit CSDP. He or she works with the Supply Sergeant. Together, they create and update a binder, which has the compiled information. Most CSDP binders have unit SOPs, a self-evaluation checklist, Army Regulations, state policies and initiatives, inventory results, appointment orders and much more. The secret to success with the Army's...
Every type of unit in the Army National Guard, from Divisions to Companies have a unit Mission Essential Task Listing, also known as the METL. The METL features the mission essential tasks a unit must be able to accomplish, in order to complete its wartime mission. Most METLs have between 4-7 tasks. All METL tasks must pertain to the entire unit. For example, if your company had different types of platoons (e.g. supply, transportation, maintenance) the METL would only lists the tasks that all Platoons must accomplish. In this example, sample company METL tasks could include deploy, defend, establish area of operations, provide combat service support and so forth. When a new company commander first...
Ankle Sprain
I think just about everyone has experienced the pain of a sprained ankle at sometime in their lives, most of us more than once. Most people that are active or athletic will experience the pain of a sprained ankle at some point. When I was a medic with a rifle company in the Army National Guard it was a common injury. When I played football or basketball or even baseball in high school I suffered a few sprain ankles also. So what exactly is a sprained ankle? According to the Micromedex files at the hospital where I work a sprained ankle is "when the ligaments in the ankle are stretched or torn." I had thought that torn ligaments was a separate and more severe injury than a sprain. As a medic with...
Although most people do not consider the piracy that's going on off the coast of Somalia as a threat to our national security, it very much is. Our national security is threatened when we cannot trade with the rest of the world or they cannot trade with us. Our "economic security" is definitely at stake and your job is at stake too, but also our need for fuels so you can drive your car and take your kids to soccer practice is predicated on the ability to get fuel for that car. Each time a group of pirates hijacks a ship and holds it for ransom it increases the cost of shipping products around the world. It also gives money to groups that are terrorist-like or operate as guerrillas against...
The Importance of National Defense Industries For Indonesia
Indonesia is a great country with its population and rich resources. But unfortunately Indonesia is still a developing country in its status among world power competitions. The requirements needed to be a great power are available for Indonesia. But Indonesia is still behind China, India, and maybe Brazil. Besides big population, rich natural resources, economic and technology development, China and India have big and strong military capacities. In international politics, a country that has formidable military forces can use it as leverage in international competitions. From economic negotiations to border disputes, the size and posture of military forces also contribute to the results of the...
Militia Groups in the United States
Militia is the term used to describe an armed force made up of ordinary citizens for various purposes such as providing law enforcement in times of emergency, and defense via providing paramilitary services without necessarily being paid with a regular salary or being obligated to serve a fixed term. Historically, the militia has played an important role in the history of the United States, particularly in its revolutionary war of independence against Britain as it played a major role in that conflict. Militia groups in the United States have stayed on up to the present day and they serve primarily as reserve forces and the country's first line of defense in case the mainland United States is...
Tower defense games - Master of Fortresses game review and hints
Master of Fortresses is the latest tower defense game that appeared on my website (to see which website it is about, as well as for a direct link to the game, take a look at the resource box bellow). I started playing it simply because I like tower defense games (and defense games in general) and because I found the name intriguing. I did not plan on writing a review about it, but Master of Fortresses turned out to be very addictive (I could not stop playing it to the very end - if you consider endless mode to be the end) and, therefore, here you have this review. I also included some helpful hints for those who might find the game too hard. The concept behind Master of Fortresses is a little...
Resource Transfers are similar to Part 1 where players think they need multiple accounts to transfer resources, only there are various different ways this rule can be violated. To start, the rule is that no player can transfer more than 1 hour's worth of resources to a player smaller than them and 3 hour's worth of resources to a player bigger than them.
